A volunteer of 25 years was given a special honor for his commitment and hard work.
Rufus Woody does what he does without expecting thanks, but the former World War II fighter pilot got some of the thanks he deserves this week, as he was honored by city officials and the nonprofit where he volunteers his time.
"It's quite an honor for me to be able to deliver," Woody said.
Woody is a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and More of Austin, and the man who delivered its 1 millionth meal in just one year. The nonprofit delivers meals to homebound clients.

The 1 millionth meal marks the first time the nonprofit has prepared and delivered that many meals in a year's time.
Board members said Meals on Wheels and More of Austin has grown this year, adding about 100 new clients per month.
They said the growing need comes from the area's changing demographics. As baby boomers age, they become more dependent on Meals on Wheels to bring them food.
Seventeen clients look forward to the 87-year-old's visits every week.
"I enjoy meeting, seeing the people, talking with them," Woody said. "I'll keep doing it as long as I can. I really enjoy it."
