The Hays-Caldwell Women's Center has officially opened the doors of its new family shelter.
Donors and volunteers gathered to cut the ribbon on the 10,000 square foot center Friday.
The facility can house up to 50 people, providing victims of abuse with a secure place to stay.
The center has several security features to protect residents and staff.
Most of the $2 million used to build the center was raised through private donations.
