Two Lockhart high school students were killed in a collision with an 18-wheeler Wednesday night.
Police said the collision between the rig and two other vehicles happened around 6:45 p.m., in the 17600 block of Texas Highway 21.
Eighteen-year-old Bernice Castelan, of Lockhart, and 16-year-old Zared Castelan, of Dale, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The third person in the car, Deimie Castelan, 18, was listed in fair condition at the hospital Friday.
Police said the driver of the 18-wheeler lost control on the wet roadway, striking the car the girls were in, along with a van.
The driver of the van was taken to Brackenridge Hospital in fair condition. The driver of the 18-wheeler, 42-year-old Francisco Ponce of Laredo, suffered minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation and charges in the case are pending.
