In the least, you must have a thermometer and a rain gauge. Other data, such as from a barometer, hygrometer, anemometer, wind vane, etc., are optional and welcome.

You agree to provide the most accurate observations possible by: a.) keeping your thermometer out of direct sunlight or near a surface that radiates heat (e.g. brick); b.) locating your rain gauge away from tall objects (e.g. trees, house, etc.) that might block rainfall from being collected; c.) contacting a News 8 meteorologist via e-mail for consultation if you are unsure.

You agree to post weather information at least once a day unless you are on vacation or otherwise just need to take the day off. We understand! But we'd like to consider your data reliable on a consistent, regular basis.
