Low water levels at Lake Travis are making it hard for boaters to use the lake, but they are making it easier to dig cars out.
The Travis County Sheriff's Office has located several vehicles that have been dumped in the lake.
They believe the cars might have been stolen and dumped in the lake possibly decades ago.
One car that was recovered on Thursday was reported stolen in July of 1988.
The Travis County Sheriff's Office is continuing to pull cars out of the lake and the low lake levels are helping that effort.
"Really what we're trying to do is discourage people from stealing cars and bringing them out here and dumping them. It's a hazard to our environment and two we're going to find them eventually. And when we do, we are going to file criminal charges," Travis County Sheriff's Detective Mike Morton said.
