In the midst of the high profile case of Jimmy Fennell, the Georgetown Police Department is facing yet another hurdle.
The 18-year-old daughter of Georgetown Police Chief David Morgan, Samantha Ann Morgan, could face up to 22 years in prison on charges stemming from an altercation with a police officer.
“I would say it seems like it would be kind of a tough time for them,” Georgetown Assistant City Manager Jim Briggs said.
Georgetown Police Chief David Morgan's daughter was arrested June 15 and spent a week in jail before posting bond.
“You can’t fault David in this particular case for the actions of his daughter,” Briggs said.

Police said they found a plastic bag containing a large amount of marijuana on the backseat floor in front of 18-year-old Samantha Morgan's seat.
They also found more than $1,200 in cash.
An arrest affidavit said she was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over by Georgetown police.
Police said Samantha Morgan resisted arrest and kicked an officer in the thigh before being subdued.
She was then taken to the jail where she was searched.
Police said they also found cocaine in her possession.
Morgan is charged with possession of a controlled substance, assault of a public servant, delivery of marijuana and evading arrest.
She was released on bail on Monday.
David Morgan has been police chief since 2000.
“David’s going to have a tough time dealing with this, personally. I think professionally, he has done a very competent job,” Briggs said.
But it seems some others are questioning that, especially due to the Fennell case.
The city contends Morgan’s job is not in jeopardy.
“It’s hard being a parent, and it’s hard working through that, and we all face those challenges,” Briggs said.
For Morgan, those challenges include others already facing his department.
Morgan released a statement Wednesday saying he was saddened by his daughter’s arrest, but that not everyone is a perfect parent with perfect children.
