The Austin Independent School District said Johnston High School TAKS results show vast improvements over last year's scores.
According to AISD, Johnston's tenth grade science scores improved by 21 percent, and 9th grade math scores jumped 14 percent.
"We don't know whether these particular great gains are going to translate, how they're going to translate in terms of the accountability system," AISD Assistant Superintendent Ann Smisko said.
The Texas Education Agency has the final say.
AISD said they expect TEA to reach a decision by mid June.
AISD also reported Pearce Middle School showed mixed results. Pearce has been rated academically unacceptable for the past three years.
According to TEA, out of 8,000 schools in Texas, five are at risk of closing.
