It's safe to say that Thursday will be a busy day for home and vehicle insurance companies.

Residents are reeling from the aftermath of the overnight storms and are assessing wind and hail damage to their homes and vehicles.

Winds up to 80 miles per hour and hail stones as large as tennis balls were reported in the storms that swept through the Central Austin area.

Spokesman for the Insurance Council of Texas said that the size of the storm's hail can cause considerable damage.

He offers the following suggestions and insight for those who received storm damage:

		Assess your damage and contact your insurance agency as soon as possible and be sure to take photographs.
		Do not make any permanent repairs (only temporary) until the adjuster arrives.
		Discuss possible reimbursement for temporary living expenses with your insurance company.
		Keep in mind the time frame. A company has 15 days to notify you that they have accepted or rejected your claim.
		Most companies allow for an appraisal process for a claim dispute.
