More buses carrying children seized from the polygamist compound in Eldorado left San Angelo Thursday, headed for shelters all over the state.
News 8 Austin was told some of the children will end up at the Austin Children's Shelter.
They'll remain there in family groups until a judge decides whether to place them with foster families.
Child protection agencies contacted by the state said the children could stay in the shelters for about six weeks.
Volunteers with the child advocacy group CASA are preparing for the children's arrival.
"It's like coming to a foreign country, not knowing the language, not knowing anything about where you're being placed," Carolyn Nicewarner, Travis County CASA volunteer said. "I think it's a huge challenge for these kids to feel comfortable, to gain trust."
Once contacted by the state, each person will pair up with a child.
