It's the end of an era.
Toby Futrell attended her last city council meeting as Austin city
manager Thursday morning.
She's been city manager for five years and has served the city
of Austin for the past 31 years, working her way up from a clerk in the Health and Human Services Department.
"The great thing about retirement is that you don't have to plan and for the first time in a long time I'm gonna try to not wake
up with a list of things to do and a grand plan of things that need to happen that day, that week or that month. We're gonna stick our feet in the sand for a while, do a little fishing and really just
breathe," Futrell said.
Futrell said the legacy of her tenure will be the current city
hall.
Replacing her as city manager is Marc Ott, a former assistant city manager in Fort Worth.
