Hundreds gathered Saturday at the University of Texas for the Re-Energize Texas Summit.
Global warming was one of many climate issues students discussed.
They talked about what they can do to reduce global warming and how they can spread the word that action is required today, not tomorrow.
Kacy Shindler of the UT Campus Environmental Center said global warming is something people need to be talking about.
"To unite all of the students from across Texas to motivate them to unite to say this is something that we need to be talking about and this is something we need to be doing now -- the time is now," Shindler said.
Austin Mayor Will Wynn told the crowd about what the city is doing to preserve the environment.
Students from 26 different colleges attended.
Some of the goals the students have for Texas are eliminating coal plants, raising emission standards and reducing carbon dioxide.
