Instead of bulldozing plants on its new site in Southwest Austin, AMD is temporarily relocating trees, shrubs and grasses to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
The company plans to replant the greenery when construction is finished.
"This is the ultimate in recycling in a lot of ways - taking what would have been waste material and taking a real benefit from it. So, this is the sort of approach AMD has exemplified throughout the building process," Steve Windhager of the Wildflower Center said.

AMD is building the center on environmentally sensitive land. The environmental group Save Our Springs Alliance recently lost a legal battle to stop the construction.
However, a judge did order the city of Austin and S.O.S. to reach a compromise on the issue.
