It was a District 16-5A showdown.
Cedar Park and Stony Point were both undefeated in one of the best Friday night high school football games of the year.
Cedar Park was the underdog going in and they were missing their star quarterback.
Lucky for them, two back-up quarterbacks answered the call and kept Cedar Park in the spotlight. It was the chance of a lifetime for sophomore Brian Hogan and junior Matt Posey.
It was a chance to take down one of the top teams in the state and rise up to the top of their district.
"I mean, it was a big game, they're a really good team. We knew we had a really good defense, and offensive line and backs. We knew as long as me and Brian could step in and make a few plays, the rest of the guys would take care of the rest and we could win this," Posey said.
The young tandem at quarterback was called in after starter Nathan Thornhill was out with an injury.
Back-up Hogan got the start and he ran right over the Stony Point defense.

"We knew what to do and we just did it. The line came off the ball; the backs blocked and made plays. It's what we needed," Hogan said.
Hogan had over 150 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the ground. He also had one through the air and a two point conversion.
Third-string Matt Posey added 50 yards passing and another rushing touchdown to the mix.
"We've always known, he's the runner and I'm the passer. We were able to work that together to make up for Nate's loss. Like I said, the line blocked well and gave him time to run and gave me time to throw, and it worked out," Posey said.
"We had a quarterback out, a tailback out. It’s a football game. But those two guys right there, the second and third quarterback, have shown they can win football games. They proved it in the spring. They prove it every week. They stepped in, both of them, to make tremendous plays to get us over the hump," Timberwolves head coach, Chris Ross, said.
When the game was tied at 21 in the fourth quarter, the dynamic duo teamed up again.
Posey connected with Michael Darby for a 45-yard completion to bring Cedar Park to the six yard line and Hogan finished it off.
"He came in and made a great play on third and long. I was sitting on the bench and I knew that Michael Darby was going to come down with it," Hogan said.
Now Cedar Park is five and zero in district play and close to their third district title in school history. Cedar Park won 28-21 over Stony Point.
With two district games left in the season, the Timberwolves take their undefeated district record on the road to Westwood Friday night.
