"What we wanted is to have a chance to be in the mix at the top every year in the country. We've got that, and we're not going to let it slip," said Longhorns head coach Mack Brown.

The Horns are Hungry
The UT football team is playing like they are hungry for a Big 12 and National Championship.

Texas won't talk about it. They can't afford to look ahead, but they know they are close to it.
"I've never been on a team that was this close to achieving something that could be great. You can almost feel it. It just drives us more to get there. I know everybody on this team
wants it. You can see it in our play. Guys are out there hungry like they haven't eaten in two years. That's how we're playing right now. Licking the plate hungry," laughed defensive end Sergio Kindle.
With only four games left in the season, it's hard not to draw the comparisons to the '05 National Championship team.
Like in 2005, an undefeated season would lead this team to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. There's no doubt that both of these teams have the ability, but the biggest thing they have
in common is they both know how to have fun.
"We're having a lot of fun. A lot of fun on the field, on the sideline, in practice. We are just coming together, just taking it all in," said linebacker Roddrick Muckelroy.
"We're definitely, definitely enjoying it, trying to soak in as much as I can," said center Chris Hall.
"Both teams have been teams that enjoyed each other. They pick at each other. They challenge each other. They practice hard. Both teams have been a lot of fun and hopefully this
team will find its way to the same place the '05 team did," said offensive coordinator Greg Davis.
