Fun Fun Fun When:11/7/2009-11/8/2009 SXSW. ACL. Fun Fun Fun in its fourth year is mentioned in that kind of company. Headliners include DEATH, The Jesus Lizard, Shonen Knife, Mission of Burma, and Danzig. Of Montreal, King Khan & BBQ Show, No Age, Ratatat, and Yeasayer are also on the bill. This is a festival that keeps getting bigger and bigger, for good reason, it's got some classic headliners, a mid-section with familiar, relevant names and a batch of bands that are truly looking forward. Expect huge crowds both days- Saturday and Sunday.

Monsters of Folk When:11/13/2009 A first-time visit from the year’s most talked about super group, The Monsters of Folk. Jim James from My Morning Jacket, Conor Oberst and M. Ward are the monsters in question and they’ll play songs from their self-titled debut and tunes from their individual catalogues Friday night at Stubb’s. The shows have been earning great reviews and it’s unlikely they’re individual schedules will let them come back as a group anytime soon. See them while you can.

Son Volt When:11/14/2009 Son Volt, Jay Farrar and Co. are a hardworking alternative country pioneers are touring in support of their well-received new record, American Central Dust, which ought to start popping up on year-end lists soon. Jason Isbell, formerly of the Drive By Truckers and a SXSW favorite the last few years will open for them.

The City of Austin plans to have the Nueces Bike Boulevard opened by late spring. The boulevard would be a multi-use path where car traffic is discouraged. How do you feel about this?
