Dean Minchillo, conservation specialist with the LCRA, says that watering your lawn once or twice a week may not be enough for your trees.
When the stress of drought weighs heavy on the limbs of your trees, there is a way to ensure that they are getting enough water, without wasting precious resources.
Minchillo suggests running a soaker hose along the outer part of the tree or at the drip line, which is at at the edge of the leaves, where the sensitive roots are.
This is where all the nutrient water uptake is for the trees.
Two hours with a soaker hose is enough time to get the water deep enough into the soil for the trees to take it in.
