The Forever Families segment is celebrating five years on News 8 Austin.
Over the years, the segment has reached a successful adoption rate of 70 percent.
"We started the segment alternating between issues and highlighting children, which has helped turn this into really a national education tool on the adoption process," Adoption Coalition Executive Director Tracy Eilers said.

Eilers said the segment has had a 60-65 percent success rate concerning adoption of the featured children.
"People from all over the country watch this segment, via the Web site," she said. "One of the unique parts about this segment alone is, first of all, you hear from the children what it is they want and what it's like, and it helps kind of evoke this emotional connection."
Eilers said the issue-oriented segment also help educate families about adoption, foster care and the process.
