Six hundred women from around Austin recently gathered to support the Fourth Annual Beauty of Life Fundraiser, with special guest Charla Krupp.
Krupp has held many roles in the fashion industry over the past few years. Some of her accolades include Beauty Director of Glamour Magazine, Editor of In Style Magazine, and she is still an editor for People's Style Watch Magazine.
Krupp recently wrote the New York Times best seller How Not to Look Old. Her basis of the book was women never want to look old so what can they do to stay looking young.
"They don't want to show anyone old, if you're 35 you are old. I mean you look at those models they are 12 they are 14, no wonder they look so good. So after a certain age people who are 50 and 60 say, 'I can't do this, what should I do?'" Krupp said.

Now instead of looking to magazines, Krupp has a few ideas of how women can look younger without looking like they're trying.
"For example don't wear a suit that's matchy matchy. This is a thing a lot of women grew up with, 'I'm going to go on an interview I need a suit,' [but that's] wrong," Krupp said. "If you're going to go on an interview you can wear a cardigan with a great pencil skirt, [or] you can wear a jacket with a nice pair of black pants. Don't be matchy, matchy."
Krupp also has advice for applying make-up.
"A lot of women over 40 are doing the same thing as they did in high school, those lined lips are out. We have to stay current," she said.
Instead, Krupp suggests a more natural look instead of red lipstick. She said think light and think pink, a tinted moisturizer and a lighter foundation are also good suggestions. Krupp said never let your hair go grey, stay highlighted and again stick with your original natural hair color.
To top off the event, several nurses and other women involved in Hospice Austin volunteered for a makeover.
"It was just really fun; I've had a great time," Hospice Austin Nurse, Lisa Miller, said.
Krupp offered one extra piece of advice.
"Don't tell your age, you don't have to lie about it just say you're over 40," Krupp said.
That was possibly one of the best tips of the day.
