HOUSTON -- An investors' group headed by a Houston cardiologist has agreed to buy Enron's 50-story downtown Houston headquarters.
The Houston Chronicle reported the agreed-to price is $55.5 million.
The deal with Dr. Antonio Pacifico's group was reached in a private auction Tuesday by the collapsed Houston energy giant's bankruptcy attorneys. The deal must still receive approval from Enron's bankruptcy judge in New York.
The deal is scheduled to be made final Dec. 16.
In 1996, Pacifico treated the heart troubles of Hakeem Olajuwon, who was then the Houston Rockets' star center. Pacifico later participated in several real estate investments in partnership with Olajuwon, but the star isn't part of the deal for the 20-year-old Enron tower.
