ORLANDO, Fla. -- Authorities in Orlando, Fla. say a gunman
opened fire today in the offices of an engineering firm where he
was let go more than two years ago.
At least six people were hurt. Police are searching for a
suspect in a sport utility vehicle.
People streamed out of the 16-story Legion Place office building
around lunchtime. Some told local TV stations they had barricaded themselves inside their offices.
The Orlando Fire Department district chief said an unknown
number of people are still in the building and could be injured. He
says the SWAT team is trying to pull people out.
An Orlando police spokeswoman identified the suspect as Jason
Rodriguez, and said he might be in a 2002 silver Nissan SUV with
license plate D119UX.
A spokesman for Reynolds Smith & Hill, a transportation
engineering consulting firm in the building, says Rodriguez was
released in June 2007 for performance issues.
